GMO Rice and Rehydration Therapy This article is an update on Ventria Corporation's attempt to market what some people believe would be the world-s first medical food. Their plan is to market a rehydration therapy that consist of among other ingredients, rice that has modified with anti-bacterial ingredients from human breast milk. Rice producers in California and Missouri were able to force the company to shelve their production plans in these states. Now Ventria has found a home and a loan package from the small Kansas town of Junction City. Consumer groups are alarmed about what they view as an untested and potentially dangerous product. Cross contamination with rice crops and worries that the product could cause dangerous immune reactions in already sick people are among the arguments that critics are posing.
