Cooking to be Compulsory in British Schools
Cooking, once a integral part of the educational curriculum in many countries, is less commonly found these days. With obesity rates rising to alarming levels, Britain has decided to bring cooking back into schools. Beginning next fall, cooking will be compulsory for all children aged 11-14. The program aims to teach children about healthy foods and how to prepare them in an effort to curb Britain's rising obesity rate - about 22 percent. Eight hundred teachers will be trained to instruct the courses.
