Rising Food Prices and Regime Stability

This article from a Kenyan academic raises many interesting questions concerning the current crisis in world food prices, which has recently been characterized as a "silent tsunami" by WFP executive director Josette Sheeran. From bio-fuels, middle-class demand for meat in countries like China and India and speculation in food futures, this is a crisis with no end in sight. What remains to be seen is the fallout along the way. And what the response will be from the West, whose policies in many ways brought about the crisis.
