A policy brief from BirdLife International, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and Pesticide Action Network (PAN) has been presented to European Agriculture Ministers, who will be meeting next week in France. The brief warns that future increases in food production can not be at the expense of the environment. In essence, the brief questions the industrial farming model and calls instead for heavy investment in the environment, including soil amelioration, water conservation and bio-diversity preservation.
