TV Food Advertising Aimed at Children

The debate about the role of advertising in the childhood obesity epidemic continues to heat up. Some children health advocates wonder whether to ban all ads to children or only those for junk food. Others wonder if effective government regulation of 21st century is even possible. Now there's a case that seems to affirm optimism about regulation. Quebec, the jurisdiction with the strictest children's ad ban in the world, has scored to big legal victories in 2009, successfully prosecuting Saputo and General Mills for advertising to children. The latter success is even more notable since it was the first time the government has attempted to prosecutie a company for advertising to children on the internet.
