Big Chocolate



The Harkin-Engel Protocol is a voluntary arrangement agreed to by the chocolate industry to ensure that US chocolate products are not made with child labour. However, a recent report from the US Department of Labor reveals that child labour persists in the world chocolate industry. Labour rights advocates are fighting hard to right this situation. Some companies have taken the initiative to address the issue through various forms of certification that include areas such as labour, environmental and organic standards.
